Property title

Property title

What is a Property title?

The Property Title is the legal ownership of the property. Someone who has the "Title" to a property has a legal claim on the property.

It's not a document, per se, but it's more of the legal ownership that entitles someone to the property. The title is often transferred in conjunction with the deed transferring but not in all circumstances.

If the title of the property is murky, it can affect the value of the property. Before buying any property, the prospective buyer should verify that there are no claims nor liens on a property and that the property is clear to purchase without issue.
