An independent landlord is a property investor who actively manages a property by themselves. They typically don't use property managers to handle their day-to-day operations. Independent landlords have a direct relationship with the tenants and end up paying fewer fees as they don't use external agents like property managers.
Other terms used to describe independent landlords are private landlords and do-it-yourself (DIY) landlords.
